Performer Guidelines

Tanglewood Music and Arts Festival, 30th of December to the 2nd of January. Set in the stunning backdrop of rolling hills only 2 hours North East of Melbourne.

Our mission, to create a fun, safe and affordable place to celebrate New Year’s Eve while supporting young Australian up and coming and already established musicians, artists and performers.

It takes an extraordinary number of dedicated people to put on a festival such as this and we really appreciate you wanting to be one of those people. Whether you are an artist of any media, performer of any kind, produce your own music, spin vinyl or CD’s or play in a band, If you juggle, hoop, dance, drum, have a wonderful or wacky talent, Tanglewood Music and Arts Festival is always on the lookout for talented people to be involved.

Take your time to fill in the form as completely as possible. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please try to let us know of any upcoming shows or gigs, we love to come and watch our applicants live as much as possible and be sure to read the application guidelines before filling out the application form so you understand what is expected.

Promotional Material

Your application will not be accepted without:

All current promotional material.

Good quality recording of your performance, via links to bandcamp, soundcloud, mixcloud, youtube and vimeo etc.

A press pack with 2 high-quality photos, A biography, social media links, facebook page, website, youtube etc. (These need to be correct spelling and what you would want used in our media. We do not edit ill will be automatically uploaded.)

Uploaded tech rider and stage plot. (if you are a performer or busker an outline of required space and power requirements)

Insurance paperwork, if applicable.

Selection Process

This festival aims to highlight local artists and talent from across Victoria, but will extend to the wider Australian community. We look for originality, diversity, appeal to an audience of all ages and nationalities, flexibility to perform in a range of performance areas and affordability.

Contracts

Successful applicants will be sent a contract to confirm their involvement in the Festival and the agreed fee. All successful applicants will need to submit a contract, even volunteers.

Stage & Power

The Stage Plan and tech specs must be attached to your application form for it to be accepted. This will assist our Production crew with your staging requirements and set-ups and ensure we have what we need. Sound engineers will also need to ensure they have allowed for that equipment and power. The stage tech will also help set up so they require to know your basic set up any changes can be updated before the event or even at the event before your performance time.

Insurance

Tanglewood Festival requires that each artist or member of a performance group have Public Liability Insurance unless you are volunteering your services to the organisation or receiving a token payment to cover yours costs. You must attach a certificate of currency of PLI to your application form if this applies to you.

Tag and Testing

All gear that an artist supplies that you would like to use on the day must have an up to date test tag on it (more than 1 month from expiry) This is a requirement and any equipment not tagged can not be used.

APRA and set lists

Weather or not you are an APRA member we need to be able to supply a list of all works performed at the event. You must keep a record of your set lists or any musical pieces used in a performance and supply them to us before the event if possible. If you can not supply it before the event you must fill one out and give it to stage or area manager at the festival.

On top of this we like to have an educational exchange of ideas or displays along with a nurturing environment for people to share their gifts with our community.

We look for originality, diversity, appeal to an audience of all ages and nationalities, flexibility on time, flexibility on space needed and affordability.

Plan & Power

A plan and tech specs must be attached to your application form for it to be accepted. This will assist our Production crew  and healing space coordinator with your requirements and set-ups and ensure we have what we need.

An area map is required for stalls and workshops to ensure we leave the right amount of space between each area. We really need to know exactly because just as we need to make sure we have enough space for each set up we do not want to have too much and leave gaps in between.
