What is around the area?

Thornton is only 3.5km from the event site. There you can find a takeaway & fuel, bottle shop (ATM), hotel, general store (coffee), caravan park and butcher. The Rubicon Hotel gets in extra canned beers, ice and tobacco just for the festival and to help the community we encourage our patrons to wait until you get to the local town or surrounding communities to stock up on everything you need for the event.

Alexandra and Eildon are only 10 minutes up the road, here you will find food works, a bakery, fuel, cafes, restaurants, bottle shops, accommodation, and opp shops and they are both lovely towns to have a look around.

If you are interested in checking out the local area head to Alexandra or Eildon info centres and pick up some information and flyers on what is around. The Lake Eildon damn wall/National park, Rubicon River/Rubicon Valley (Kendals Campground) and Cathedrial ranges state park are all just stunning and worth a look.

For more information of things to do in the area check out the Eildon info centre found on the main street in Eildon 03 57 742 909 OR Alexandra Info Centre 34 Grant Street (03) 5772 1100

There are so many more local businesses you can find anything you need with in 15 minutes of the festival site. Most of the local businesses are locally or family owned so we encourage everyone to do their spending in town and help support the community that hosts our event.

places to stay before and after the event?

There are so many great caravan parks, hotels & Air BnBs around the area, but we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment. There are also plenty of free camping spots within a few kilometers of the event site to check out, but please use wiki camps or other sites to find legal free camping areas. Just remember to be respectful of the local community, your behaviour outside of the festival reflects on the community supporting the event being held here.

Can you swim?

There is no swimming on site. We do allow pass outs between 11:00am and 4:00pm and there are some beautiful spots by the river where you can go and cool off. The river is very fast flowing with a strong current so it is important that you ask the crew or look on the map for safe places to go.

Just remember to be respectful of the local community, your behaviour outside of the festival reflects on the community supporting the event being held here.
